Thamnopora is an extinct tabulate coral that had formed ancient coral reefs. Tabulate corals include branches, mounds, and pipe organ shapes. Thamnopora lived during the Devonian age and lasted until the end of the Permian, having been victims of the mass extinction event. They are the most commonly represented genus in this eras fossil record, often found alone in many ancient seabeds.
