Blue Mountain Jasper is considered one of the finest picture Jaspers in the world. It's best known for its large "orb" banding that contrast against a dark blue background. Only found in one locale in the world, Blue Mountain Jasper comes from a single mine in southern Oregon near McDermitt. Highly coveted and sought after by lapidary craftsmen, polished Blue Mountain Jasper slabs make for astonishing display pieces. 

The picture Jasper is framed by Tiger Iron, a rock composed of the minerals Tiger's Eye, Red Jasper, and black  Hematite. The bands of color makes Tiger Iron an attractive aesthetic specimen, while it's formation by cyanobacteria over 2 billion years ago make it an attractive historical specimen as well.
