Discovered in the late 1960’s in a dry river bed near the settlement of Seymchan in the Magadan Oblast (district) of Russia, Seymchan meteorites possess resplendent crystalline patterns called Widmanstätten patterns. These are a result of the intergrowth of kamacite and taenite- two Iron-Nickle minerals. Pieces that don't contain these patterns often have brilliant leopard-like spots of olivine crystals. The Seymchan meteorite strewn field is now reportedly depleted.
Size varies with each piece.
Approximately 3 inches in length, 1.5 inch width.
