With small crystals but big impact, this pyrite on fluorite is a fine specimen of two intergrown crystals.
Pyrite, also known as "Fool's Gold" due to its yellow metallic hue resembling real gold, and is derived from Greek to mean "stone which strikes fire" because it produces sparks when struck against steel. And speaking of light, fluorite is fluorescent under UV light, emitting a purple-blue hue. At 49% fluoride, we can't guarentee it'll keep the dentist away, but this piece will be a beautiful specimen in your home.
