Also known as white Beryl, Goshenite is the colorless, transparent variation of Beryl, the same mineral that creates Emerald, Aquamarine, Morganite, and Heliodor when trace elements are introduced. Goshenite’s crystal structure is made up of stacked rings of silicate that create channel-like spaces that run up and down the length of the crystal, which allows it to hold small ions and water molecules that could create the colorful variations of Beryl. Without these impurities, the crystals can show crystal-clear clarity. In fact, it’s this clarity that allowed Goshenite to be a diamond mimic before synthetic diamonds could be easily created.

Here, we see a large crystal of Goshenite attached to its host matrix and the angle seen in the photo allows its clarity to easily be seen. The host rock is anchored to an acrylic base to help display the Goshenite in the best possible condition.
