Talented Kenyan carvers carve this unique sculpture of a water buffalo from jacaranda wood, finished with burned contours. Because these sculptures are fully handmade, each buffalo exhibits its own characteristics.

We work with an amazing co-op in Kenya, the Gikomba Wood Carving Cooperative, a group of woodcarvers of all ages who work in an open-air workshop in Nairobi. This environmentally-responsible group takes care to legally procure all types of African wood used in their products, and they are skilled at using all parts of the tree in their artwork.
