A small cabinet mineral. Pale Apophyllite crystals bloom from a snowy, pastel pink Mordenite field.

Popular amongst collectors, Maharashtra, India produce colorless as well as apple-green colored crystals due to the presence of iron. The Deccan Traps, one of the largest volcanic features on Earth, is found in west-central India where Maharashtra is located. The volcanic rock is perfect for Apophyllite to form and grow. As lava cools, air pockets form in the solidifying rock, creating spaces for minerals like Apophyllite and zeolites to fill.
