This ancient sea bed is teeming with ancient life. Over 10,000 species of Ammonites may have existed over their 300 million year existence. The diversity of these species have helped scientists determine the relative age the rocks they've been found in, as well mark the presence of ancient oceans and seas. This preserved sea bed features numerous Ammonite species, as well as several bivalves. Many of the Ammonites have been cleaned up and polished to display their unique appearances, from the many ridges of the large species to the complex suture patterns of the smaller. Some opalescent Ammonites are also included. Douvilleiceras sp., Cleoniceras sp., and various species from Madagascar 110 million years ago.

The slab is displayed on a wood base measuring 26" long and 18" wide, and is 3" thick. The Ammonite Sea Floor is 23" long, 32" tall, and about 6" thick.

Due to its size and weight, it is ineligible for shipping and available only for Pickup at the Hermann Park museum location.
