This Ammonite has slices of Brucite expertly inlayed into its empty chambers, creating a new piece of art.
Brucite with such saturated color is almost unheard of in any color, especially yellow. The lemon yellow color distribution is even throughout, which is incredibly rare for this find. It is considered a world class Brucite that helps to redefine the species, as it appears at other locales as gray to pale green-yellow and not aesthetically pleasing. A true "trophy piece" despite its anomaly as a species.
Ammonites were Cephalopods sharing a common ancestor with the squid and octopus. The ammonites that appeared in the Devonian became very diverse and widespread in the Paleozoic and Mesozoic before going extinct along with the dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous period. The goniatites lived early in the Devonian period, some 400 million years ago, and became extinct during the Permian period.
