Amun (also known as Ammon, Amen, and Amun-Ra) was an Ancient Egyptian god depicted with the head of a ram, and when certain cephalopod fossils were found by ancient Egyptians, they were called “Ammonites” due to some species resemblance to Amun’s horns.
