Natural Citrine is formed when quartz crystals are exposed to elevated temperatures deep within the Earth, typically over millions of years. This natural heating process alters trace amounts of iron within the quartz, producing the warm golden to amber coloration that defines citrine. Most commercial Citrine is created by heating Amethyst or Smoky Quartz.
