Wire wrapped jewelry has an ancient history. One of the oldest jewelry making techniques, wire wrapped jewels were found in the Sumerian city of Ur (2000 BC) and in ancient Rome. Filigree metalwork dates back to 3000 BC in the Mesopotamian valley and has been used in jewelry making across cultures ever since.
Dana Kellin is inspired by ancient and historic jewelry techniques and forms, such as the Byzantine focus on gemstones and the use of filigree in Victorian jewels. Dana distills these aesthetics with her delicate and intricate 14k gold-fill wire wrapped gems.
