Dendritic Quartz on Aquamarine

A blue-green variety of the gem Beryl, Aquamarine has been linked to water and the sea throughout history due to its sparkling resemblance to the ocean. Aquamarine was used as a charm for protection and luck by ancient Roman fisherman as they went out on the water for their day's catch. 

Admiration for Aquamarine was not exclusive to the Romans; the Sumarians, Egyptians, Hebrews, and Greeks all cherished the blue stone as well.
