This watch is out of this world... Literally! Sailing through space for over 4 billion years, the Gibeon Meteorite made contact with Earth only a few thousand years ago. Raining down flaming iron from the sky, the meteorite fell over a 240 mile long arc on the edge of the Kalahari Desert in today's Namibia. For much of its time on Earth, fragments of the meteorite were used as spear points and other tools, and it wasn't until 1836 when large portions of the meteorite were moved from the Kalahari Desert. Since 1836, over 25 tons of the Gibeon Meteorite have been recovered, and the remaining fragments in Namibia have been declared National Monuments.
The lines on the watch face are natural patterns from the meteorite itself, indicators it is an Iron meteor. These “Widmanstatten lines” are a result of cooling in outer space over billions of years, and act as a fingerprint for each iron meteorite- no two patterns are the same.
The Meteorite Watch includes a Certificate of Authenticity, a gift box, and the battery so you or your giftee can wear it straight out of the box.
The watch is 9" long, with a watch face 1.25" in diameter.
Due to the natural formation of the meteorite, each watch is one of a kind and may not match the one photographed exactly.
The watch is 9" long, with a watch face 1.25" in diameter.
