The rich red coloring found in the iconic Red Fox Agate comes from red hematite (iron oxide) encased in the Agate layers. The bold red against the dusky mauve Agate is just one of the many reasons collectors adore this rare and unique variety. Red Fox Agate is a relatively new discovery, having been found in 1997, originating from the Miocene epoch Cordón Cabezón volcano complex.
