Megalodon teeth have been collected for hundreds of years. During the renaissance, some people thought that they were the petrified tongues of dragons and snakes, but in 1667, the Danish scientist Nicolaus Steno recognized them as shark teeth. The famous Swiss zoologist Louis Agassiz, was the first to notice the similarity of the teeth of megalodon to those of the great white shark, and so called it Carcharodon megalodon, although some zoologists still think that megalodon is more closely related to other modern sharks, and put it in its own genus - Carcharocles.

Averaging from 40-60ft long as a species, the Megalodon was a behemoth that ruled the ancient oceans until it vanished 3.6 million years ago. Now, only their teeth remain deep below the sea and in dangerous riverbeds. These Megalodon Teeth hail from the rivers of the Carolina's, rife with rapids and alligators under the murky water, and extracted by ex-Navy divers.

Due to the natural variations of Megalodon teeth fossils, the tooth you receive may look different than the one in the photo. Each tooth is packaged with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Sizes will vary from 2.5 inches long to 4.5 inches long. Percentage of tooth will vary.
