English major, artist, professional puppeteer, musical comedian- jeweler Sallyjane has made the round looking for an art medium to call home. It wasn’t until she started going to gem shows and got a piece of rutilated quartz wrapped when inspiration struck. Sallyjane started experimenting with wire-wrapped jewelry, and three years later went fulltime with the craft. For over 25 years, Sallyjane has been making wire wrapped jewelry with the crystals, fossils, meteorites, and gemstones from around the world with her husband, Steve. Based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, they travel across the US to showcase Sallyjane’s jewelry at gem and craft shows.

The term druzy comes from the word “druse” which means a crusty layer of small crystals. These cabochons are quartz specimens which have natural fissures in them that filled up with tiny quartz crystals. The natural stones have been coated with different dichroic metallic finishes to give them the spectacular colors.
