Lac La Belle is located on the Eastern shore of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Upper Michigan.

The Lac La Belle locality was and still is a perfectly protected interior harbor, away from the open Lake Superior waters. This was probably why the early miners, 3000 to 5000 years BC, used this area for shelter, access to water, and close to the interior deposits of copper used to make these utensils. Knives were vital to hunt and prep the food available, as well as all the usages we can envision that we use knives for in these current times. Knives were also used as a trading item and have been found all along the Mississippi River system as well as throughout the upper Midwest USA.
