There are over 300 species of Thai jewel beetles whose wings have been used for centuries to decorate the clothes and jewels of Thai nobility. The life cycle of the jewel beetle centers around the rainy season when they are born, lay their eggs, and die. The dead beetles are collected at the end of the season, thus preserving their ecosystem and their larvae.
