Mosasaurs was a large carnivorous marine reptile that lived during the late Cretaceous period and could reach up lo lengths of 33 feet (10 m). Having developed a streamlined body, powerful whip style tail, and four large paddle flippers the mosasaur easily dominated the late cretaceous waters making it the alpha predator of its time.
Most notable about the mosasaur was that it had a rather large head with a jaw that could reach up to five feet in length. Mosasaurs are speculated to be closely related to modern day snakes and monitor lizards. Much like their modern day cousins, its lower jaw was loosely hinged to the skull with joints that could move behind its teeth. This would allowed for it to attack and devour prey that was much larger.

This mosasaur jar is a composite specimen. The teeth have been place in a phosphate matrix made from the same material from where the teeth were collected.
Each specimen is approximately 4 inches to 7 inches in length
